What our Clients and Partners are saying:
When looking for someone to help us with the remodel of our 30 year old kitchen and master bath it was not difficult to choose Karen Ellentuck for the job. We had met Karen through a professional group and had been impressed with her expertise and success in the industry making her the obvious right choice. From the moment we started working on the project Karen’s professionalism and attention to detail was appreciated. I have not had the experience of working with an interior designer and was a bit nervous but I was immediately put at ease by Karen and her interest and understanding of what we were looking for in our project. She’s listened and responded to our budget concerns, clearly set out a plan that would work with us and our time line.
I especially appreciate that after Karen’s first visit to our home she tuned in to my personality and things that I love and transferred that into choices she suggested for our remodel. For someone to be able to recognize these small but important things is remarkable.
On a larger scale she helped us make choices that would update our home and knew what choices would be the best for today’s needs and market. The result will be a home that won’t just be perfect for us but also for whom ever lives here in the future. We have just completed the planning stages and my husband a I are thrilled with the design and the plan she has set in place for us. Thank you to Karen taking what seemed an enormous task and making it easy for us!
We would highly recommend Karen Ellentuck to anyone who is looking for someone to guide them through a challenging process with knowledge, professionalism, and a caring attitude. For that we are grateful.

We recommend Karen Ellentuck without reservation. We had a wonderful experience working with her. She developed a bathroom, bedroom and hallway design that melded our need to stay true to the style of our 1930s house alongside our need for more storage and some big extras (like a steam shower!) She seamlessly incorporated into the design a 100-year-old buffet -- transforming it into a sink vanity -- and a refinished clawfoot tub. Our upstairs is now our little oasis.
We met with her regularly to plan the layout and design and also to choose fixtures, colors and finishes. She was easily reachable for questions from our contractors and provided an in-home consult several times. She came up with solutions fast, which eased any dilemma we might have had otherwise. Karen is so talented, and we will definitely work with her again.

Karen is a master designer with a wealth of knowledge. She did an excellent job understanding my desired outcome and delivered an exceptional design and beautiful finishes. She followed through on time and per agreed upon ideas. She followed the project through to the end, providing guidance to the contractors as the work progressed. We are thrilled with the classic look she developed and have a much more functional kitchen and great room.
Karen was our interior designer for an extensive home remodeling project several years ago. I highly recommend her services. Karen helped us make choices that we continue to love today - years later. She balanced creative design, quality and cost very effectively. She helped us achieve the precise design aesthetic we were looking for - contemporary and elegant (but not fancy), using colors and materials with the feeling of nature and the Pacific Northwest. Further, Karen was highly responsive and worked very effectively with our contractors. We get lots of compliments from visitors to our home and many have asked for Karen's contact information. Years later, we continue as Karen's clients - seeking her help when we need to add a piece, update something, or make a change. I wouldn't even think of doing something in our home without consulting Karen.
We had a new house built for our retirement, and because we were moving from a 100 year old bungalow to a new, more open floor plan, a lot of our furniture would not physically fit in the new space. Although we are pretty incurable DIY people, who know what we like, we were somewhat stymied by some of the design aspects for the new space, so we decided we needed help. we search Houzz for Seattle designers, and decided that we would like to work with Karen, based upon some of the images we saw a on the clarity of the "scope of work" type arrangement she described on her web site. We described our needs and tastes, and got a furniture layout and some specific recommendations for pieces we would not have known about or found on our own. We visited the NW Design Center twice and worked with Karen to pick out some things we really liked. I have no doubt that without Karen's assistance, knowledge, and contacts, we would still have bare windows, would still be debating rug selections (or would have gotten one too small for the space), would have an odd empty corner in the living room, and a sofa that was merely "close" to what we wanted. We are really happy with the help we got and it is all the more impressive that she did this project without setting foot int he house, which was 90 miles and a ferry right away.
We are so delighted we chose to work with Karen Ellentuck. She is organized, professional, has great taste and always keeps her promises. Most importantly she truly listened to our needs adn delivered a result that feels just right for us. Our project was a "downsize" so we really needed every aspect of our new home to be both beautiful and functional. It is! She found ways to use many of our beloved pieces of furniture in ways that made them feel new. when we needed to make decisions she always brought us good choices and made it easy for us. She is practical and understands working with a budget. When other professionals were needed she had the best people at her fingertips. We recommend her highly.
Karen designed a down-to-the-studs remodel of our small main floor bathroom. The project is almost complete and it surpasses our expectations. Karen is a good listener and she figure out our taste better than we knew it ourselves. She sourced amazing materials for us - such as the most beautiful floor tile I've ever seen - which we would never have found on our own. The small size of our space was a design challenge, but she used every inch to best advantage. She pitch perfect sense of color and pattern and a superlative devotion to detail. Even the drain cover in the tiled shower floor is super cool! She stopped by our house several times during the project to check up on that all was going well, and she was always there when we had a question. Karen is the first designer we ever hired and we lucked out! We wouldn't do another remodel without her.
We hired Karen to help us plan our dream kitchen after a miserable water leak that left us with a total kitchen remodel. The layout turned out wonderful, the look and feel still is just as awesome as when we undertook this project 5 years ago. We still get great complements when guests first come into the house. The design work was timeless and optimized the space and opened up the kitchen to the rest of the home. This is our gathering place.

We are a tile installation company and we love working with great designers. This is extremely important to us and Karen Ellentuck of Ellentuck Design is an A+ in our book. She has completed designs and drawings that call out all the tile specs and are clear, readable, and architecturally sound. This always helps the job run smoother and the entire project flow. Her designs are beautiful and fun to install. We have worked with Karen on several projects some of which are award winning designs. Her clients enjoy her and like working with her. She is a good communicator, positive and a solution oriented professional. I highly recommend Karen!

We hired Karen to design a new kitchen in our Tudor home that was sorely outdated. She was very talented at making the most efficient use of the space, as well as determining the perfect amount of lighting for each area of the room. We especially appreciated her sense of design and color. Her choices in all the small details, from the kitchen faucet, to the lighting fixtures, to the backsplash tiles, transformed our kitchen into a fresh and inviting space. Thanks to Karen, the kitchen went from being the room we dreaded most, to our favorite room in the house.

I have had the pleasure of working with Karen Ellentuck for over ten years as an owner of an established local drapery workroom. Karen has such a good sense of color and design...and a special knack for finding the perfect fabric that pulls the room together. Not only is she talented, but she is very organized, clear in her communications and will seek and listen to suggestions regarding fabrication. All of this attributes to her high success rate and long list of happy clients. It has also made for a solid and enjoyable relationship as one of her vendors.

Karen Ellentuck of Ellentuck Interiors is the epitome of professionalism. I have had the privilege of working with her for many years and it is always a pleasure. As a vendor showroom, we get to see the projects she is working on, and the fabrics and finishes she brings together - they are always so well conceived and as different for each project as her clients needs. There is no "cookie cutter" design going on with Ellentuck Interiors. I have seen projects from ultra contemporary to elegant traditional, all with the same care and enthusiasm. She is meticulous in her process, which is a dream for us - and I'm sure results in very happy clients!

Karen was tasked to furnish/decorate 7400 sq ft of living space in my new home. She took her time to understand my style, colors, aesthetic. She worked within my budget and timeframe and worked continuously with my contractor throughout my remodel. When she couldn't find an already existing piece of furniture that fit my needs, she pulled from her many contacts to have a piece made.

We had Karen Ellentuck design our Master Bath remodel. She listened to what we envisioned for this remodel and created a highly detailed design that included everything on our wish list. She was able to pull all the components together into a very pleasing spa-like environment. With the detail she provided, the contractor and sub-contractors were able to complete the project according to plan. We would highly recommend Karen for any of your designer needs .

Karen Ellentuck recently designed the renewal of the two bathrooms in my condominium. After I had made tentative selections of a stone floor tile for each room, Karen suggested various coordinating subway tiles for the tub area in one room and the shower area in the other and designed their layouts including accent patterns in each. In addition, she designed cabinetry for the rooms, one of which included an entire wall of cabinetry both above and below counter level. She suggested a cabinet maker, selected coordinating colors for the cabinetry, Cambria countertops and the rooms' walls and ceilings. Further, she gave me excellent advice in the selection of fixtures, medicine cabinets, lighting and door and cabinet hardware. Finally, and most thankfully, although Karen and I are located in different parts of the country, she interacted with my local vendor(s) when warranted to insure the timeliness and quality of the project. Karen has a wonderful sense of color and design, and created two beautiful contemporary rooms from what had been mid-1970's embarassments. I would gladly hire her again.
Project: Complete gut and remodel of two-story house, with a small addition.
As the contractor on this remodel, Karen was a pleasure to work with. She gave us detailed drawings and specifications, and was always available for questions and consulting on client-requested changes. The end result is a highly functional floor plan with finishes that make the residence look like the remodel was more expensive than it actually was. Karen is one of the most knowledgeable, talented, and team-oriented interior designers we’ve worked with. She has our highest recommendation!
